Things I learned from a friend who used to work at a nice hotel in Vegas.

  • Never use the top bed cover.  It doesn’t get washed unless it is noticeably dirty.
  • Do not use the blankets in the closet or drawers.  They are not washed if still folded or look clean.  If you need additional blankets, ask for some clean ones from the front desk.
  • Never use the drinking glasses provided by the hotel without washing them first.  If the cleaning staff believes them to be clean, they don’t replace them with glasses that are actually clean.
  • Don’t walk barefoot in the room.
  • Hotel staff do crazy things in the rooms, so just be smart about what you touch.

My Brita pitcher is sitting on my desk because both it and an entire pizza cannot fit in the fridge at the same time.

The pizza won this time, so I have to drink warm water until the pizza is gone.

  • B: Some places on campus have been experiencing problems with racism, so I have a question to ask you guys: how is diversity affecting you?
  • M: Well, I believe diversity is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.
